받침 — the closer

밥 is ㅂ + ㅏ + ㅂ. The last ㅂ is 받침. It makes the 'p/b' stop at the end — the reason 밥 does not sound like 바.

Common closers: ㄱ/ㅋ/ㄲ often sound like a held k, ㄴ n, ㄷ/ㅅ/ㅈ/ㅊ often a held t, ㄹ l, ㅁ m, ㅂ/ㅍ a held p, ㅇ ng.

You will hear liaison later (한국말). First, finish the square. Do not skip the bottom letter because English doesn't have one.
