Temple etiquette

합장하고 인사 — temples are living places, not museums.

解説は英語です。韓国語の行と意味は選んだ言語です。

Temples (절/사찰) hold services, monks, and rules. Bow at the 일주문 (one-pillar gate) entering. Keep voices down past the main hall.

Don't point feet at Buddha statues when sitting. Don't photograph people praying. 불공 (offerings) go in the box; 공양 (temple meals) are paid by donation.

Templestay programs let you sleep overnight — 4 a.m. ceremony included. Jetlag converts this from punishment to feature.
